The psychodynamic approach is concerned with the way that we find ourselves repeating patterns in our relationships. It is also about the ways in which parts of our experience are hidden in the subconscious.

As a child, you will have taken in ideas and beliefs about parents, carers and authority figures. These ideas can be taken into new relationships and sometimes lead to emotionally upsetting events. You may be left bewildered about how the same things happen again and again to you and your relationships. This can lead to despair and anxiety.

The therapy room is a useful testing ground to check out feelings and ideas. As your therapist, I will to work through these upsetting feelings with you – sadness, anger, confusion or pain – to encourage you to let yourself experience them and explore their origins.
