Julie Faulkner MA BSc MBACP
UKCP registered psychotherapist and approved supervisor
I entered my training in psychotherapy after knowing the comfort that can be found in the sharing of my story, sorrows, anxieties and joys with another, in finding the space to think about things in a new way and in the experience of discovering how to form more nourishing relationships.
Employment
I am employed as a Tutor at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. I also work in private practice in Stourbridge, West Midlands as a counsellor and psychotherapist.
Counselling experience
I have worked with young people and adults in the voluntary sector and in private practice.
Among the various issues I have encountered are: relationship difficulties, depression and anxiety, trauma, bullying, low self esteem, abuse, self harm, bereavement and loss. I am open to working with whatever issues you may bring.

Qualifications
I am registered as a psychotherapist and approved supervisor with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I also have a Diploma in Clinical Supervision with the Sherwood Psychotherapy Institute.
Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy
I studied this qualification through the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI).
Its main focus was on the role of early relationships in forming our personalities and their vital role throughout our lives. My approach involves attention to the conscious and unconscious parts of our experiences, with the idea that people are made up of thoughts, feelings and sensations, and that it is only when we allow all these parts into our experience that we can have a fuller awareness of who we are.
Honours Degree in Psychology
This was awarded through the University of Birmingham and gave me a solid grounding in theories about the human mind, the way we develop, what motivates us, how we learn and process information.
Ethical practice
I'm a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I follow their ethical framework, which is concerned with my professional conduct and your well being. I meet regularly with a clinical supervisor who supports me in my professional and ethical practice.
Research
I have completed a research project into the intergenerational impact of adoption in the mother–daughter relationship.
If this is an area that interests you, or you wish to know more about the findings of the project, I would be happy to discuss it with you.
